Lo-fi radio plays mellow, beat-driven instrumentals — dusty drums, soft keys, vinyl crackle — made for studying, working and winding down. The stations below come from the open Radio Browser directory, ordered by listener votes: Lofi 24/7, Nightwave Plaza from Japan, MoE Lofi, REYFM #LOFI at 320kbps and I Love Chillhop are among the most-voted. Because there are no lyrics and no presenters on most of them, they sit well in the background for hours. Everything plays in your browser, 15 minutes a day free, with no account and no download.

Lo-fi radio is the most widely listened-to genre on the internet that nobody can quite agree how to define. Open the lo-fi genre page on 72FM in any browser and something familiar starts almost immediately — warm, slightly hazy music, soft beats, textures that feel analogue even when they're not — no account, no download required to begin. But "lo-fi" covers more territory than the ubiquitous study-beat aesthetic suggests. This guide maps the sound, its sub-styles, and when each one fits.
