The sound of the city

Bristol is closely tied to trip hop: Massive Attack grew out of the Wild Bunch sound system, and Portishead took their name from the nearby North Somerset town. Roni Size and Reprazent, from the city's drum and bass scene, won the Mercury Prize in 1997. UK radio, drum and bass radio and reggae radio go further.

Listening from elsewhere

Bristol keeps UK time — GMT in winter and an hour ahead (BST) in summer.
