The sound of the city

Bucharest's radio mixes the public broadcaster's culture and classical channels with manele, pop and dance on the commercial dial. Romanian radio goes further.

A little history

Romanian public radio began broadcasting from Bucharest on 1 November 1928. Its Radio România Cultural and Radio România Muzical channels still carry the city's classical tradition.

Listening from elsewhere

Bucharest keeps Eastern European Time — two hours ahead of UTC in winter and three in summer.
