Published 17 October 2026

You can listen to chanson radio online in any browser, with no download and no account: open 72FM, search for "chanson", and press play. The word covers two different traditions: French chanson, the song of Piaf, Brel and Aznavour, and Russian shanson, the ballads of the road and the city — and the directory has stations for both.

Russian shanson

• Радио Родных Дорог — Russian shanson and songs of the road.

The sound

French chanson puts the words first: Charles Trenet and Édith Piaf before the war and after it, then the singer-songwriters of the 1950s and 60s — Georges Brassens, Jacques Brel, Barbara, Charles Aznavour, Serge Gainsbourg. Russian shanson is a different thing under a borrowed French name: urban ballads and songs of the prison camp and the highway, which became one of Russia's most popular radio formats. French radio online and Russian radio online cover the rest of each dial.
