The sound

Hardcore — gabber — came out of Rotterdam in the early 1990s; hardstyle slowed it down and gave it melodies in the Netherlands at the start of the 2000s, with its distorted, reverse-bass kick drum. Its festivals are its temples: Q-dance's Defqon.1 and Qlimax draw tens of thousands. Techno radio, trance radio and workout radio go further.

A route in

  1. Q-Dance Radio, for the festival sound.
  2. Radio Record Hardstyle, for hardstyle around the clock.
  3. Hardcore Radio, for hardcore and frenchcore.
