How to Listen to Lebanese Radio Online

You can stream Lebanese radio live in any browser, with no download and no account: open 72FM's Lebanon page, choose a station and press play. Lebanon's radio is fast, multilingual — Arabic, French and English, often in the same programme — and followed by one of the world's great diasporas, from Brazil to Australia.

• Voice of Lebanon (Sawt Lebnan / Voix du Liban) — the country's first private station, founded in 1958, with news, talk and music, and the most-voted Lebanese station in the directory.
• Radio Liban — the public, government station; Radio Liban Libre is also among the most-voted.

Fairuz in the morning

For decades radio stations across the Arab world have started the day with a song by Fairuz, Lebanon's most beloved singer, and in Lebanon the habit is stronger than anywhere: morning coffee comes with her voice. Tune in to a Lebanese station early and you may well hear it.

Arabic, French and English

Lebanon is a trilingual country on the radio. Arabic dominates, but French and English are common in presenting and in the music, and switching between them mid-sentence is part of the sound. For Arabic learners, Lebanese radio is a good way to hear the Levantine dialect.

The sounds that come from here

Classic Lebanese song. Fairuz, Wadih El Safi and the Rahbani brothers shaped the golden age of Lebanese music in the mid-20th century.

Arabic pop. Beirut has long been a centre of Arabic pop, and its stars fill the playlists.

Dabke. The line-dance music of weddings and celebrations across the Levant.

Listening from abroad

The Lebanese diaspora is very large, with big communities in Brazil, the United States, Canada, Australia, France and the Gulf. Online radio is how many of them keep up with home. Lebanon is two hours ahead of UTC in winter and three in summer. Expat radio covers the habit.
