The sound
1967 was the year: San Francisco's Summer of Love, with Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead, and in London Pink Floyd's The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Jimi Hendrix and The Doors took it into hard rock and darkness, and bands such as Tame Impala have carried it into this century. Beatles radio, progressive rock radio and psytrance radio — psychedelia's electronic grandchild — go further.
