Where the name came from

Nobody called it yacht rock at the time. The label came from a 2005 web series that affectionately mocked the smooth sound of Steely Dan, the Doobie Brothers with Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross and Toto — session-musician polish, electric piano and sailing-boat daydreams — and it stuck. 80s radio, soul radio and rock radio go further.
