Press the button and land on a live station from somewhere in the world: a breakfast show in Lagos, a jazz stream from Tokyo, a village station in the Alps. Every spin draws from the 30,000+ stations in the open Radio Browser directory, and it plays here, in your browser.
The directory keeps every station that passed its latest stream check in a shuffled order. Each spin jumps to a place in that order chosen by chance in your browser and takes a station from there, preferring one that a few listeners have voted for, which keeps test streams and abandoned entries out of most spins. Inside a genre, it picks by chance among a couple of hundred of that genre's stations. Nobody at 72FM chooses the stations, and a spin is as likely to land on a tiny local station as on a famous one.
You can keep the spin inside one genre: jazz, rock, classical, pop, electronic, news, country, reggae, Latin, 80s or ambient.
Yes, within one rule. The open Radio Browser directory keeps its working stations in a shuffled order; each spin jumps to a place in that order chosen by chance in your browser and takes a station from there, preferring one that at least a few listeners have voted for, so that a spin is less likely to land on a test stream or one nobody listens to.
Any station in the directory that passed its latest stream check: tens of thousands of them, from more than 200 countries.
Yes. Choose a genre under the button and every spin stays inside it. Genre labels come from the directory's tags, which stations and volunteers write themselves, so now and then a station is a loose fit.
Streams go off air or move between the directory's checks. Spin again; the next one usually plays.
Yes. It plays in your browser with no account, under the same free daily listening allowance as the rest of 72FM. Premium removes the daily limit.
No. Every station belongs to its broadcaster, and the pick is made by chance from the public directory. 72FM does not select, own or re-encode them.
