The sound of the city

Dublin's music runs from traditional Irish sessions to U2 and a thriving dance scene. Down south, Cork radio online covers Ireland's second city. Irish radio online and Celtic radio go further.

A little history

Irish radio began with 2RN on 1 January 1926, the station that grew into RTÉ. In the 1980s Dublin's pirate stations were so popular that the state licensed independent radio in 1988.

Listening from elsewhere

Dublin keeps Irish time — the same as UTC in winter and one hour ahead in summer, like London.
