Published 2 October 2026

You can listen to Edinburgh radio online in any browser, with no download and no account: open 72FM, search for a station's name, and press play. Edinburgh and the Lothians stream the BBC, the capital's commercial hit stations, student and online radio, and community stations from Bathgate to Penicuik and Haddington.

BBC and commercial

• BBC Radio Scotland — news, sport, talk and music for the whole of Scotland.
• Forth 1 — the biggest hits and throwbacks, from the station that began as Edinburgh's Radio Forth.
• Capital FM Edinburgh — pop hits for the capital.

Community radio in the Lothians

• 107.8 Black Diamond FM — community radio for Midlothian, from rock to country and reggae.
• Crystal 107.4 FM — community radio from Penicuik in south Midlothian, with folk and eclectic programmes.
• Regal Radio — West Lothian's community station from Bathgate, with blues, rock and local music.
• East Coast FM — East Lothian's local station from Haddington, with easy listening.

Student and internet

• EHFM — Edinburgh-based online radio giving the capital's local artists a platform, 24 hours a day.
• Radio ENRG — student radio from Edinburgh mixing pop, rock, sport and talk.
• Edge 1 — billed as Edinburgh's hit music station, with sister streams Edge 2 for classic hits and Edge 3 for country.

The sound of the city

Every August the Edinburgh Festival Fringe fills the city with comedy, theatre and live music. Edinburgh gave the world the Bay City Rollers and Young Fathers, and The Proclaimers' Sunshine on Leith takes its title from the city's port. Scottish radio, UK radio and Celtic radio go further.

Listening from elsewhere

Edinburgh keeps UK time — GMT in winter and an hour ahead (BST) in summer.

A route in

1. BBC Radio Scotland, for news and sport.
2. Forth 1, for the hits.
3. EHFM, for the city's own artists.

Across the Central Belt, Glasgow radio online is next.
