The sound of the region

Opera was born in Florence around 1600 — Jacopo Peri's Euridice was staged there for a Medici wedding — and Bartolomeo Cristofori invented the piano in the city. Giacomo Puccini was born in Lucca, Gianna Nannini in Siena, and the rock band Litfiba formed in Florence. Italian radio, opera radio and classical radio go further.

Listening from elsewhere

Florence and Tuscany keep Italian time — one hour ahead of UTC in winter and two in summer.
