The sound

Goth grew out of post-punk at the end of the 1970s: Bauhaus's "Bela Lugosi's Dead" in 1979, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure and Joy Division, then the Batcave club in London from 1982 and the Sisters of Mercy. Belgium's Front 242 named electronic body music, and Germany took the whole scene to heart: the Wave-Gotik-Treffen fills Leipzig every Whitsun weekend. New wave radio, metal radio and synthwave radio go further.
