The sound of the region

BBC Radio Leicester went on air in 1967 as the BBC's first local radio station. Kasabian formed in Leicester and Engelbert Humperdinck grew up there, while Nottingham is Jake Bugg's home city and the place where Sleaford Mods formed. UK radio, Bollywood radio and reggae radio go further.

Listening from elsewhere

Leicester keeps UK time — GMT in winter and an hour ahead (BST) in summer.
