Slovakia's public radio is unusually varied for a country of five million, with separate channels for culture, literature, alternative music and minority languages. Czech radio and Hungarian radio go further.
A little history
Radio broadcasting in Slovakia began in Bratislava in 1926, three years after Prague. Slovak Radio's headquarters, an upside-down pyramid completed in 1983, is one of the city's best-known buildings.
