How to Add Any Radio Station to WiiM by Its Stream URL
Published

The WiiM Home app finds a great many stations through the radio services it carries, but not every station is there, and sometimes you want one particular stream of a station. For those, WiiM has Open Network Stream: you add a station by its stream address, or import a whole list of them at once. The steps follow WiiM's own guide to Open Network Stream.
What you need
- The WiiM Home app connected to your WiiM.
- The station's stream address. This is the direct link to the live audio, not the station's website. The radio stream URL finder gives you the address the open Radio Browser directory lists for any station in it: type the station's name and copy it.
Add one station
- In the WiiM Home app, open the Browse tab and choose Open Network Stream. If it is not on the Browse screen, owners have found it under Customise, next to the music services, where it can be switched on.
- Tap Add Stream and fill in a name and the stream address. A description and artwork are optional.
- Tap Test Stream to check that the address plays, then save.
Make it a preset
Tap the three dots next to the stream and choose Preset, so the station is one tap away.
Add a whole country or genre at once
Import Streams takes a playlist file in .m3u, .m3u8 or .pls format. The free M3U playlists by country and genre hold the most-voted working stations of each country and genre, rebuilt every week: download one to your phone and import it. WiiM can also export your streams as an .m3u file, which is a handy backup.
If a station will not play
- Some stations publish no stream address, only a player on their website. Those cannot be added this way. If your WiiM takes AirPlay or Chromecast, play the station on your phone, or in the browser on 72FM, and send it to the WiiM instead.
- Test Stream fails. Try another entry for the same station in the stream URL finder; many stations are listed with several addresses in different formats.
- It stopped working. Stations change their addresses from time to time. Look the station up again and update the stream.
Other devices take a station's address too: see adding a radio station to Sonos by URL and Wi-Fi internet radios.
