A little history

Guglielmo Marconi built Vatican Radio for Pope Pius XI, who opened it on 12 February 1931 with the first papal message ever broadcast. Since 2017 it has been part of Vatican News, the Holy See's combined news service. Christian radio, Rome radio and Italian radio go further.

Listening from abroad

Vatican City keeps Central European Time — one hour ahead of UTC in winter and two in summer — so the Angelus at noon on Sunday is at 11:00 in London in summer, and 6:00 in New York.
