Quran Radio Online: Recitation Live, Around the Clock

You can listen to Quran radio live in any browser, with no download and no account: open 72FM, search for "Quran" or a station's name, and press play. Stations devoted to recitation of the Quran broadcast from Cairo, Makkah, Kuwait, Nablus and far beyond, many of them around the clock, and online radio puts all of them within reach wherever you are.

The national Quran stations

Holy Quran Radio, Cairo. Egypt's Quran station — Idha'at al-Quran al-Karim — went on air in March 1964 and has broadcast recitation from Egypt's great reciters ever since, alongside commentary and religious programmes. It is in the directory under its Arabic name, إذاعة القرآن الكريم من القاهرة, and as Holy Quran Radio Cairo.

Holy Quran Radio, Makkah. Saudi Arabia's Quran station was established in 1972 and broadcasts around the clock, most of it recitation; the directory lists it as إذاعة القرآن الكريم (مكة المكرمة).

Other countries run Quran stations of their own — Algeria and Tunisia among those in the directory.

Stations for a single reciter

Some of the most-voted Quran streams are devoted to one reciter, so you can listen to the voice you know:

• Abdul Basit Abdul Samad and Muhammad Siddiq al-Minshawi — the celebrated Egyptian reciters of the twentieth century.
• Mishary Alafasy — the Kuwaiti reciter heard by millions.
• Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, Saud Al-Shuraim, Maher Al-Muaiqly and Yasser Al-Dosari — imams associated with the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
• Ali Al-Huthaify — long associated with the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah.

The Quran Radio streams from Kuwait carry each of these reciters on its own channel, and Mp3Quran streams recitation from many reciters.

During Ramadan

Listening rises sharply during Ramadan, when many people listen to recitation through the day and night, and the national stations adjust their programmes to the month. For listeners abroad, a Quran station from home is also a way to keep the rhythm of the day.

Listening well

Most Quran streams run at 48–128kbps, which is plenty for a single voice; the Mp3Quran main stream is at 128kbps.
