How to Listen to Salvadoran Radio Online

You can stream Salvadoran radio live in any browser, with no download and no account: open 72FM's El Salvador page, choose a station and press play. El Salvador's radio is some of the most listened to in Central America online, and much of that audience is abroad — millions of Salvadorans live in the United States and tune in to home every day.

News and talk

• YSKL La Poderosa — one of the country's most important stations, on air since 1956, with news and sport on 104.1 FM and 770 AM.
• Radio Nacional de El Salvador 96.9 — the public station.
• YSUCA 91.7 — the station of the Jesuit-run Central American University (UCA), with news, culture and educational programming.

Music stations

A large part of the directory's Salvadoran stations belong to the same San Salvador network, each with its own format:

• La Mejor 98.9 — Latin pop, salsa and tropical music, and the most-voted Salvadoran station in the directory.
• FM Globo 93.3 and Scan 96.1 — Latin and Spanish-language pop.
• YXY 105.7 — bachata, merengue, reggaeton and salsa.
• 92.5 Club — adult contemporary.
• Exa FM 91.3 — pop and top 40.

Others worth knowing: Radio Láser Inglés, playing English-language music; 100.7 Stereo for rock and pop; La Tribu; Femenina; La Jefa Radio from Ahuachapán, with banda and grupero; and 105 Salsa.

Christian radio

Christian stations are among the most-voted Salvadoran streams: Radio María El Salvador, Restauración 100.5, Radio Verdad 95.7, Radio Bautista and Radio Salem. The Christian radio guide covers the format more widely.

The sounds that come from here

Cumbia. Salvadoran cumbia has its own sound and huge dance-floor following, at home and at every Salvadoran party abroad.

Tropical and Latin pop. Salsa, merengue, bachata and reggaeton fill the FM dial, as across the region.

Banda and grupero. Regional Mexican styles are popular too, especially outside the capital.

Listening from abroad

About 2.5 million people of Salvadoran origin live in the United States — above all in the Los Angeles, Washington DC and New York areas — making Salvadorans one of the largest Latino communities in the country. For many of them, Salvadoran radio is the sound of home. El Salvador keeps UTC−6 all year, with no summer time: the same as Chicago in winter and two hours ahead of Los Angeles most of the year.
